YOUNGER INFANTS

SUMMARY

We recognize that the growth of a child is a gradual developmental process unique to each child. Our programs are designed to support each child’s natural curiosity for learning. Young children learn by doing and are motivated by their own desire to make sense of their world.

At SFLC we believe relationship is the critical foundation of quality child-care. We know this is especially important when it comes to the care of our little ones. Our infant staff work to foster a loving, kind, and warm relationship with your child ensuring they feel safe, comfortable, and happy while in our care. Through this relationship with the child and through establishing a trusting and strong relationship with the parents, our teachers can know each child’s individual needs for growth and development.

Pro Care App

Daily communication with our parents is important to us and a key part of having positive parent-teacher relationships. We utilize the Pro-Care App to keep our parents updated on their child’s daily activities, mealtimes, nap times etc

WHAT TO EXPECT

Drop Off

During drop off time the teacher and the parent will spend time exchanging any important information the teacher needs to know for the day.

Pick Up

During pick up time the teacher will share with the parent how the child’s day went, answer any questions, and ensure the parent has all the child’s belongings to take home for the day.

DAY IN THE LIFE

Daily Activities

• Our teachers develop daily activities focused on each child’s individual needs for growth and development. Our infants grow and learn through various activities such as art and sensory, fine and gross motor, tummy time, reading, and language. We also begin teaching the students sign language at this age to help them begin to communicate and express their needs.

Meals

• Our infants are on an “on demand” meal schedule in that they eat when they need to eat or follow a schedule provided by the parents. All bottles and food must be provided by the parent until the child is ready to try table foods. Once the child is ready to try table foods, the teacher and the parent will work together to begin offering the kinds of table food for which the child is ready.

Nap Time

• Our infants are also on a “on demand” sleep schedule. We allow our infants to sleep as much as they need throughout the day. As the child grows older and needs less sleep, the teachers will work with the parent to develop a more structured sleep schedule while the child is in our care.
