COVID-19 UPDATE

COVID-19 UPDATE

  • As the world around us has changed due to Covid-19 we know that the health and safety of their children has become increasingly important to parents. Therefore, we want parents to know that we are committed to following all State Licensing and CDC health, sanitation, and safety recommendations for Child Care Centers during Covid-19.
  • Below is a list of some of the main precautions and procedures we have taken to keep our center clean and our children and staff safe and healthy.

PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES

  • Staff are required to wear masks in the building
  • Children over the age of three should wear masks as much as possible when in the building and in the classroom.
    • We are going to try our very best to help the children keep their masks on throughout the day.  However, we will not force or fight any child to wear a mask if they absolutely do not want it on and/or they are having a meltdown over it. We will just try to get them to put it on later.  All of this is overwhelming enough for the children and we do not want them affected anymore than they have to be during this time that their world is so different.
  • When working with children 2 and under -whenever holding a child and/or  changing a diaper, staff must wear a covering over their clothes and either sanitize the covering or use a new one for each child.
  • Parents are not allowed into the building at this time and a staff person will walk children to their classrooms in order to help limit the number of people in the building.
  • All children must have their temperature taken before they enter the building and no one can enter if their temperature is 100 or higher.
  • All staff must have their temperature taken before they enter the building at the beginning of their shift and before they come back from break and they will not be allowed to work if their temp is 100 or higher.
  • Staff and children must wash their hands as soon as they enter the building, any time they enter a new a classroom, anytime they touch a child before they touch another child or something else in the room, any time they touch their face or anything else that would require hand washing before touching something else or someone else.
  • We are following the state licensing guidelines for class sizes
    • Four and Under no more than 12 to a room as long as social distancing can still be maintained
    • Five and up no more than 22 to a room as long as social distancing can still be maintained
  • We are still practicing social distancing as much as possible when in the building and outside
  • We are sanitizing everything all day long.  Any toy that is used by a child must be sanitized before it is allowed to be used by another child, tables, chairs, and play areas are being sanitized before they are used by another child, door handles and light switches are sanitized almost every hour, the room is cleaned and sanitized several times a day as well as deep cleaned at the end of every day.
  • No mixing of students from different classrooms or combining classrooms in the morning or afternoon. This goes for in the building and outdoor activities.
  • For those children that nap, nap items are sent home daily to be cleaned
  • New Illness policy: If your child exhibits the following symptoms, PLEASE do not bring them to the center and if they show these symptoms while at the center you will be asked to make arrangements to pick them up IMMEDIATELY:
    • Fever of 100.4 or higher – this is different from our current policy and will be followed until Covid-19 threat has been reduced
    • Severe coughing – child gets red or blue in the face, child makes high-pitched croup or whooping sounds after cough – if a child has a persistent dry cough you will be asked to pick your child up and per the suggested Covid-19 symptoms they will be able to return with a doctors note clearing them for return
    • Exhibiting repeated shortness of breath unusual for child’s normal behavior – child may be able to return with a doctors note clearing them for return
    • Vomiting – child may not return to the center until 24 hours without vomiting
    • Sick children that are sent home for the above mentioned symptoms will be kept in a separate room (not the front desk area) until they can be picked up. The room the child was in will have the other children moved to another room and the room will be immediately sanitized from top to bottom.
    • Sick Staff – All staff must follow the same sick policy as our children as the policy is given by State and the Health Department and applies to all people who attend or work in the center.  The staff will also have to follow the temporary amendments made to our sick policy until the threat of Covid-19 is reduced.
